Moss, born 13th February 1977 is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He was a player in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 years
with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee
Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers. Alongside Jerry Rice, he is often regarded
as the best wide receiver of all time. Moss holds the NFL single year touchdown
reception record (23 in 2007), and the rookie NFL single season touchdown
reception mark (17 in 1998). He also ranks as the second highest on the NFL
all-time regular season touchdown list with 156. Moss is famous for his ability
to catch contested passes. The term "mossed" was coined by the NFL
and is now a part of the vocabulary of football, became popularized due to
this. Following his football career and broadcasting, he began working as a
studio analyst for ESPN for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night
Countdown. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont High
School. It was one of two schools that later became Riverside High School.
There the student excelled at football, basketball, baseball track, as well as
other sports. Randy was also a part of the school’s debate team. Moss played a
key role in leading the DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state
championships in 1992 and 1993. Moss was an outstanding wide receiver. He also
played free safety and punt return. He received the Kennedy Award in 1994 as
West Virginia's Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to their
All-American high school football teams in the year 1995. In 2009 they named
him as one of the top 50 high school football players of all-time.
