Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the 1968 Democratic Convention and there was a casting demand for a movie with many parts for young people who disrupted it. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon was not selected even though he prior studies in acting. His wife Susan received a big role. That character was Susan Compton who is the daughter of an ad executive Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer lover, is killed in the movie. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot, who works in an assembly line then meets Joe (Sarandon). Janet, who becomes involved with Dr. Frank n Furter, plays Janet in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). Sarandon took on the role of Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 years after her debut. She took a flight on her own from Rome, Italy from Italy to Los Angeles. "It was such an amazing script... It was able to do remove a number of legends, and challenged American notions of what success is," she said. "I went to the studio together with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his gorgeous assistants prior to getting back on the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, had already given birth to two sons before 1992 which made Sarandon in a position in which she could leave her home and accept difficult roles. This was the result of four Academy Award nominations in 1990s, and best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
